Biography
Chris Mullen is a visual artist based in Brunswick, Maryland. He earned a Bachelor of
Fine Arts with a concentration in Photography from Shepherd University. Chris grew up
around photography—his family runs an architectural photography business in the
Baltimore–Washington, DC area, and he spent his early years tagging along on shoots.
That experience helped spark a lasting interest in the medium.
Chris works mostly with Polaroid and film, drawn to the slower, more intentional process
of analogue photography. His work often focuses on quiet moments—whether in nature
or in everyday spaces—and uses the camera as a way to document where he’s been
and what catches his attention. He embraces the imperfections that come with analogue
materials, aiming to create images that feel personal, nostalgic, and reflective.
Before focusing on fine art, Chris worked as a photojournalist in TV news and is a
multi–Emmy Award–winning videographer. That background continues to shape how he
tells stories through images—always looking for the small, meaningful details that might
otherwise go unnoticed.
