July 15, 1949 Mar. 23, 2015. Robert Calvo is known for his large public installations. His most prominent work is the sculpture "Ascension", c.1996, installed at Fire Station 01, Portland, Oregon. He studied at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles; University of Texas, Austin and graduated from the University of South Florida with honors. His professional honors continued as Robert was a two-time recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship Award, the Tacoma Art Museum Juror Award, and the Tampa Museum of Art Purchase Award. Robert's public collections and commissions include the Paul G. Allen Foundation (Seattle), Microsoft (Seattle), Buffalo International Airport (Buffalo, N.Y.), Miami International Airport (Miami, Fla.), Tampa International Airport (Tampa, Fla.), Miramar Library, (Miramar, Fla.).
