Neon signs historically have given unique identities to businesses large and small, often serving as a beacon beckoning passersby. At the restaurant Blu Fish House, we encounter that tradition through the image of a voluptuous mermaid: a mythical creature known in folklore to lure sailors to their watery graves.
Austin-based artist Todd Sanders creates neon artworks that may appear to be old relics from forgotten attractions. In fact, they are buzzing with light and activity, illuminating many beloved local businesses. Inspired by 20th century vintage neon signs and pop culture, Sanders is devoted to keeping the aesthetic of Americana alive and well through the tradition of neon bending.
The artworks of Todd Sanders are almost impossible to miss: there are over 20 sprinkled throughout Bentonville. Keep your eyes peeled for some of the following familiar images across town: greyhound, top hat, horseshoe, mason jar, luchador masks, beer mugs, cowboy, cowgirl, car and trailer, and many more!
