La arquitectura de la soledad, 2015
75.25 × 50.75 × 2.625 ″ Xylography (diptych) Location:VBT Label Text:
In both his musical and visual art careers, Nicolás Bacal explores notions of time, particularly attempting to impede the passage of time. He is interested how visual art can immerse the viewer in a new universe almost immediately, whereas music takes time. La arquitectura de la solidad (the architecture of solitude), brings the viewer into a world which is both familiar and distant. The worn appearance of the celestial maps has rendered them nearly illegible and large fingerprints further obscure the constellations. However, these elements provide insight into how the work was produced and suggest a sentimentality for something that has been used and touched over years and years.
