Linda Lopez explores the lives of household objects and appliances in her work, animating them as “dust furries.” Inspired by the way her mother gave life to objects through language, Lopez develops stories around her works, sometimes creating installations or vignettes in which her ceramics can live, like a stage, and referring to the pieces as characters. They each have their own personality: some collect “rocks” or dust, small bits adhered to the furries inspired by the bits and pieces of materials on her daughter’s art table.
