Two young siblings, Tegyu and Terrin, sit close together, both wearing soccer jerseys in different shades of blue. Behind them is a soft, ambiguous background of greens, browns, and blues. Using warm, thick brushstrokes, the artist shows the older sister looking lovingly at her younger brother, while he gazes off into the distance. Both children seem to glow as if lit from within.

Claire Tabouret draws inspiration from the vulnerability of human relationships, painting portraits of what she calls "real people,” or everyday individuals without special status. In her Siblings series, Tabouret explores the complexity of family bonds and each person’s unique personality. Her portraits remind us of the strength we find in community and the importance of staying connected, even when we are apart.
