I was recently invited to the GangGang Residency on the New South Wales, Far South Coast. The house where I stayed is nestled among a forest of spotted gum trees. Burrawangs spring up from the earth like masses of seaweed and birds hover on branches only to bound away again in flight. When you first enter Bermagui, the town just before Cuttagee, there is a winding road curtained by these same spotted gums. I wanted to capture the essence of these trees. How when suffused with light they can so simply ignite feelings of awe, beauty and the sacred.
