"Like many, during the initial pandemic, I needed to re-evaluate the notions of what is “home” and “living”. An imagined eclecticism now spills out from our living room onto our garden, and beyond. My real Garden is a mess, an unkept jungle.. with lots of happy wild inhabitants. It has good bones; large trees, loads of shrubs and yes, a lot of weeds, my mind wanders, and I can imagine how it could be.
My work explores these hopes within my part imagined backyard vista, shrouded in deep shades of green, dense lush foliage, contrasting bright skies, and now less than shy creatures. Purposely skewed, a perspective of multiple points, an encouragement to explore and embrace. A scene purposely devoid of people, simple imagery and uncomplicated connections, to reinforce a sense that the observer holds ownership of the space, and hopefully embrace it as their own."
