Image is captured by placing the object between a mirror and a high resolution scanner. The light generated is solely from the scanner device and has a narrow, artificial range. While the scanner runs the object is manipulated, and subtle visual effects like foreshortening and distortions of perspective are incorporated. The effect is of a rhythmically distorted reality, while the images are of mundane objects sublimated by a cold, scientific eye, as though they were evidentiary photographs from the scene of an explosion still rippling through the air.
