Expansion Ensō #1

26 × 26 ″ Ink and pigment on Arches hot press watercolor paper

Using ink and mica pigment to channel Zen practice, this ensō painting contemplates the vastness of space and the ineffability of time. It invokes planetary wonder and possibly the rare moments when the mind rests in a liminal realm. It is a mystery map. The landmarks are not always immediately understood and the language evolves but the information is there waiting to be understood. What a wonder to look up to the stars and know that no matter how far we reach, there will always be something beyond our human knowing.
