Plastic Landscape, 2023
15 × 11 × 5 cm Acrylic, Oil and Plastic Food NettingNot Available
Plastic Landscape is a statement on the 'war on waste' and the problem with the amount
of plastic that is put into our land. The plastic netting used for fruit and vegetables has been used to add colour, composition and texture to the artwork, attracting the eye to a small painting but not a small problem!
The element of play is an important aspect of my work, together with the use of found material. Repurposing materials and letting those small ‘scraps’ spark ideas for creations like this landscape scene. The small wooden box was found at Sydney’s Reverse Garbage. The layers of paint, netting and acrylic skins pealed from paint pots reflects the rugged nature of a landscape but also addresses the problem with plastic in our environment.
