Lagoon' began as a small outdoor painting of a waterway near where I live. I often paddle around, walk by with my dog, or surf in front of this lagoon and often wonder how it must of been to the local Darkinjung people way back when. The image of a floating unmanned canoe began for me many years ago initially depicting an almost meditative state, to a primal human symbol, then to represent the original inhabitants of this land in several paintings and murals, most recently in collaboration with local Aboriginal artists.
