The Broken Hill, 2024
76 × 101 cm Acrylic on CanvasNot Available
I recently spent 2weeksin Broken Hill with a group of artists - the intention was to respond to the unique landscape of this place. I tried to connect with the strangeness of the environs, it all seemed so disjointed, broken, other worldly. There were structures, residues of the town's hey-day which I painted; there were slag piles in abundance, strewn in between, which I also drew. When I returned home to my studio, I threw it all together in one big mound of grime and grief. This was my response to a broken hill.
