I painted this en plein air on a beautiful Autumnal morning whilst sitting in the dirt on Wiradjuri land in Hill End (NSW). Spending prolonged periods of time sitting and observing and feeling into the rhythm of a natural environment helps me to regulate my own body’s rhythm (usually so hardwired to the rhythm of iPhone notifications and public transport schedules). With painting outside, I find it is this temporary disconnection from technology that allows me to reconnect with the natural world and my own nature.
