’Crooked Gum Creek’ balances subconscious mark-making with a contemplative response to painting in an open landscape. Working on the ground, the picture evolves intuitively, led by the gestural verticals and horizontals of the surrounding paddocks and bushland to create an abstracted glimpse of place.
