This painting merges the physical and the remembered, depicting the Birrarung/Yarra River as both a real landscape and a vessel for memory. From its reflective surface rises an image from my own history tied to this place - intimate and tactile, emerging like a solid apparition from the water. The entwining of natural realism with surreal intrusion speaks to how memory is never separate from environment; the river holds and reshapes moments, carrying them forward like its current. Here, the personal and the geographical flow together, each altering the shape of the other.
