My practice explores suburban landscapes, with a focus on South Western Sydney’s mid-1900s fibro-clad Housing Commission homes. Through minimalist representation, I reframe the ordinary, revealing the humanity, history, and politics embedded in these suburban landscapes. By highlighting architectural symmetry and poetic nuance, I draw attention to their cultural significance. Amid Australia’s housing crisis, these structures symbolize both resilience and vulnerability, prompting reflection on affordability and access. My work encourages viewers to look beyond the surface, fostering renewed appreciation and imaginative engagement with environments that shape our collective experience.
