"We loved the artist’s humble and honest rendering of the landscape as many dream it: a secluded place to call one's own. A unanimous decision.
This work evidenced a distinctive intent and approach to materials. Its agency is evidenced in a strong conceptual register, coupled with a formalized, methodical application that intersects with a generic, unselfconscious approach to painting that seeks not only to provoke the boundaries of painting, but arguably, to liberate it. Drawing on a casualness born from Provisional painting, the artist presents us with a softly painted rendition of a discarded, derelict house - having rendered it in sifted dust collected from the studio floor. In this, metaphor, symbolism and allegory abound." - Joint statement from the judges.

An abandoned  house in a quiet town, painted with sifted dust collected from my studio floor - two indices of time.
