My practice explores how colour theory and shifting light can express the instability and drama of climate, reflecting the complex entanglements between humanity and the natural world. For me, abstraction becomes both a spatial and interior experience; through gestural brushwork and a responsive handling of oil paint, I aim to evoke environmental conditions as emotional states.
Working from collages based on my own drawings and photographs, I simplify and distil compositions into their essential visual rhythms. These abstracted references are then translated into oil paint on various substrate
