Natalie Lin, 18 years old, uses painting and drawing to capture the profound beauty in life's ordinary moments, as well as investigate the confusing experience of being human. Her compositions, painted with light imbued colour through loose yet intentional strokes, seek to appreciate the ephemerality of the contemporary world.

 

Artwork Statement:

'Reflecting Trees' is inspired by the Karloo track hidden deep in Dharawal Country. The rippling brushstrokes capture the hopefulness after prolonged rainfall when the sky clears, but everything is still wet, allowing sunrays to glint on the silken sheen of water pools. The world seems impossibly bright, and, for a moment, the magic of the water reflecting the trees is all that matters.
