Scattered around Canberra there are historic red brick and tile houses. Built from local clay quarried and fired at the Yarralumla Brickworks, famously named ‘Canberra Reds’. The Red Hill Nature Reserve is another location known for it’s distinctive red-brown soil formed by high iron oxide levels. My work ‘Red Hill’ embodies both the organic and architectural, reflecting Canberra’s unique blend of the bush and urban environment. Walking and observing I contemplate the changing face of Canberra.
