‘The Clouds Belong to the Mountains’ comes from my recent artist residency at the Tweed Regional Art Gallery. It was painted plein air during the fading light of a few afternoons.
It is important to me to spend time in the landscape I paint… to sit still, observe and feel its energy. I watched the pattern of the clouds rolling in each day, and felt the energy of Wollumbin and surrounding hills somehow pulling the clouds and claiming them.
