I live on beautiful Peramangk land, and every Summer we prepare for bushfires by having an evacuation plan, a “go bag” and a meeting point.
A few years ago, we had to evacuate to the city because of how close a fire came.
A few days after our return home, I collected charcoal from some trees to make the ink to paint this work. It is a physical reminder of the potentially destructive power of Summers on Peramangk land.

Datsun Tran is an artist making work inspired by the natural world, though it is about us, the human story.
