Amanda Ross-Ho
Untitled Prototype #4 (DIRTY GLOVES), 2018
28 × 36 ″ Acrylic on canvas, cotton piping, and thread Location:BPL Label Text:
A pair of humorously oversized gloves, dappled with spring-like colors of acrylic paint at the fingertips, mimic the artist’s own paint-covered gloves. Amanda Ross-Ho takes pleasure in the random colors and patterns that appear on her gloves as she works, seeing them as spontaneous art. Inspired by this, she recreates them on a larger scale, blending her artistic process with the familiar imagery of everyday objects.
Ross-Ho’s work explores labor, time, and the blurred line between art and life. She plays with scale and combines domestic materials—like clothing and thread—into poetic or puzzling arrangements. Her art challenges viewers to see the ordinary in new ways, encouraging questions like, “What happened here?”
