Untitled (braiding Helen's hair), c.1937

20 × 16 ″ Framed: 20.438 × 16.625 × 1.125 ″ Oil on canvas

A brown haired woman in a blue long dress is seated with a small child with blond hair and a lighter short blue dress seated partially on her lap. The face of the brown haired woman is facing towards the viewer while the blond haired girl is in profile view. Lines are the only thing distinguishing their facial features and bodies. The woman is just starting to braid the girl's hair. The chair that she is seated in is seen to the left of her in a boxy structure. In front of them is possibly of a cat seated cleaning itself. Slightly behind them to the right is most likely a furniture that is blue. The background is distinguishable by the tone of the brown with the darker being the flower and the lighter being the wall. This piece has a floater frame that is a light unfinished wood. The back of the piece has thick white cardboard drilled along points of the inner edges of the canvas.
