Scars – Towards Ourselves, 2022
Permanent InstallationPermanent Installation
Inspired by the artist’s reading of The Way of Man by Martin Buber, Scars – Towards Ourselves is the result
of two years of research collecting the routes taken by explorers from various cultures who have ventured into the unknown. Their trajectories, meticulously mapped
and drawn with copper threads embedded in a microcement bed, transform the Megève home’s floor into a vast map
of humanity. The glowing metal, oxidizing and changing appearance with the varying light, contrasts with the neutrality of the cement, and the metallic grooves evoke the ancestral human impulse to mark space, from cave paintings to modern graffiti. Each line becomes a “scar” emerging from the collective unconscious, a testament
to individual courage that, overcoming fear, left an
eternal mark on the earth, making our path safer.
Walking on these traces, visitors feel the weight of
individual responsibility to become fully oneself in
order to contribute to a shared path forward.
