Suddenly You (2019) is built around the interior of an abandoned former military structure in Tenerife, overlooking the Atlantic. The two openings onto the ocean and the walls covered with graffiti turn the architecture into a threshold, crossed by the light of sunset. Here, the visible does not present itself as immediate evidence, but as a slow emergence: light fades, space becomes uniform, and what appears reveals itself only through the time of adaptation, when the body becomes aware of itself again and the gaze finds its measure. In this way, a structure originally designed to separate and control loses its rigidity and opens itself to a subtler relationship between interior and exterior, between human trace and landscape. The title points precisely to this moment of apparition: a “you” surfacing suddenly, as an unexpected presence emerging from the falling light and from the very time of vision. The work thus transforms the boundary into a perceptual condition in which light, memory, and presence coincide.
