Arthur Butler is a 17 year old student that attends Ku-ring-gai High School and the Sydney Visual Arts Academy. He has placed first for art at his high school numerous times. His favourite media are pencils, pens, markers, and watercolour, which he often uses to create works inspired by still life. Arthur was taught at the Sydney Visual Arts Academy by Mr Park and Mr Q, who have helped to develop his skills over the years and provided encouragement in the making of his landscape for the Young Paddo Prize.

Artwork Statement:

For my artwork, I was inspired to illustrate the heart of Australia which is found in the remote desert where people live their lives much closer to nature. I used water colours and pens to capture the unruly elements that form what I believe to be the essence of this country.
