In memoriam, South Lismore (hauntology study 4), 2025
90 × 122 cm Acrylic spray paint on canvasNot Available
This is part of my ‘hauntology’ series which engages with the ephemeral emotions we associate with certain places. In this work I’ve used layers of sprayed marks to build phantasmic images of condemned flood damaged houses in my home town of Lismore. The image refuses to resolve, but yet is still somehow recognisable - evoking the ‘haunting’ of memory. In this case the haunting is also prescient as these homes are deconstructed by government in the wake of the 2022 floods.
