Kevin (16 years old) has loved art from a young age and attended weekly art classes until high school. He graduated from primary school with an Art Award. Although he later focused on academics, he continues to paint and draw in his spare time. Inspired by music and nature, he enjoys creating realistic watercolour artworks.
Artwork Statement:This artwork is inspired by the beautiful landscape of Bay of Fires, one of Australia’s most famous coastal locations. I was inspired by my Year 9 camp, where I saw the coastline in person and took the original photo that this artwork is based on.
Using expressive ink lines and watercolour washes, I wanted to capture the bright orange rocks, calm water, and natural textures of the Tasmanian environment. The loose and energetic style reflects both the movement of nature and my personal memories and feelings from the trip.
