“The Kitchen Window” was painted in Tumut which is a small country town located on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri, Wolgalu and Ngunnawal people, in the north-west foothills of the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales. From inside the house (with the electric jug sometimes boiling), I painted one of my dogs in the backyard illuminated with sunlight and the colours it made. I enjoy painting from direct observation, and I am interested in capturing the variety of light effects on the world as I observe it.
