'The Making of Stone' emerged through an intuitive process of tearing, folding and assembling slabs of clay. I was exploring verticality and layered forms, drawn to the surprising strength of the material and its ability to stand and support itself despite its apparent fragility. Left unglazed, the sculpture draws on the weathered textures and resilience of the Australian landscape, inviting viewers to discover shifting perspectives and new interpretations as they move around it.
